Hidden within 140 acres of lush undeveloped land and tropical gardens, Hermitage Bay is the perfect private escape. Andy Thesen bought the property in 2003 with a dream. To create an eco-friendly lodge and preserve the luxuriant natural forest. Trees were carefully and minimally cleared by hand; sustainable materials were used for the buildings. These principles are maintained today. The resort uses solar power, natural detergents and locally grown fruit & vegetables whenever possible. Yet have no fear, this is not some hippy dippy outpost. Hermitage Bay’s contemporary Caribbean Style is pure luxury! Pink & White Ayala is the house champagne, cocktails are divine and the food absolutely fabulous! The dark tropical woods used throughout are a peaceful cooling contrast to the bright sun and long sandy beach. The staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. I spent three glorious nights but could have stayed forever. Everything, except spa treatments, is included.
Number of Rooms: 30 Individual Cottages
Sweet Suite: I loved the Hillside Suites with their great views, private plunge pools, outdoor showers, outdoor daybeds and private verandas with plantation chairs. Located up the hill from the dining room, bar and beach the walk is a great way to burn off a few calories but if you are feeling lazy, the golf cart will whip you to your cottage.
Favorite Thing: Morning yoga. The teacher was fabulous and the view divine. I felt completely refreshed and renewed.
Near By: The beach and not much else. That said it’s about a 40 minute drive to both the airport and English Harbour where many restaurant and Nelson’s Dockyard are located
Amenities: Yoga & Pilates Classes, Fitness Centre, Boutique, Garden Tours, Cooking Demonstrations, Beach, Laundry, Large Fresh Water Pool, Room Service, Free WIFI, Minibar restocked daily, VIP Meet & Great airport transfers
